Club lenght (short irons)

When I have a 100 yard pitch to the green, I always seem to bring the club into the back of the ball and end up sending the ball straight through the green and out the back.

Lately I have been crouching down further to the ground (more bend in the knee's) and getting the club under the ball so that the ball goes up in the air and lands on the green.

Should I continue to do this or are my clubs too short?

I'm 6"1 tall with Callaway clubs recommended by a pro. I'll be going back to him soon but just want to know what you fellow golfers think. My driving is improving and I want to keep that same upright stance for all my shots.
