    Hi,

Just been told I being let go today infact an hour ago i was told..
And I'm feeling happier than I have done in the last few weeks!

The tension in the office has been terrible for the last few weeks, and I'm kinda glad to be going..

I'm only in the job four months and have been wondering had I made the right choice in coming into this job.. and although I was happy to be working, I was not really in love with the job as it didn't suit me to a full extent.. It was a senior managment role that I worked really hard to get but when I got the job I worked real hard to get to grips with, But because it was totally new to me I struggled with it.it was an office based job that really showed me what office politics is like!! I was always on the road in previous jobs and sitting in an office listening to bitching and how proceedures HAVE to be done just did not suit!

any ways, I have been on to my old boss and there might be somthing coming over the horizon with them..But if this doesnt happen I'm still not ALL that worried yet!

Has anyone else had this sort of feeling or am I missing the point?

It doesn't sound odd at all. You knew that you weren't loving the job, so it's actually a relief now. There's always a silver lining.

Best of luck with a new job.

    Fair play OP.
    You're now officially bulletproof!
Similar happened to me recently. It's all in the mind, so keep the faith and you'll look back and laugh:)

Sort of happened to me once. I got a job that I absolutely loathed and quit it. Initially I felt great - euphoric almost. That lasted for a few weeks until the reality of unemployment and all the uncertainties with that go with it began to sink in. I hope your old boss can give you a job - all's well that ends well and all that.

I know how you feel. I will have no job in 3 weeks but from my very first day (a year ago) in the job it didn't sit right and I can honestly say I did not enjoy 1 day. When I was told I was being let go a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. No job in the pipeline but I am happy and will know for the future to trust my senses.

Totally agree with the viewpoints. I went into work today for the first time in 2 weeks after my mum died. Usually I would s**t myself in previous jobs with a huge backlog. Now I just do my best, go thru the motions and if it ain't good enough and they let me go well with my house rented out I'll survive. I know where you are coming from OP and can definately understand where you are coming from!

I found out last month that I was being made redundant. It was the best feeling in the world. I knew it was coming, but even still was a bit of a shock.
I feel so free now. I'm in the process of setting up my own business now and have been approached by some old contacts to do work for them.

But the best bit was today.....I met my old boss and he was asking me to talk to someone who was going to take over my role!! I politely declined...:D

I have an idea of where you are comming from. A few weeks ago we were told there would be a number of redundancies in my team. Initially i was worried, but then realized that if i was chosen:

    1. It would be a kick up the ass for me to go do something more, as im getting quite comfortable in my company, but not developing.

    2. I would have gotten a few quid along with the kick up the ass!

It ended up not being me, but sometimes I wish it was. Im still considering leaving my job, and am preparing ( upskilling, making contacts etc) to move in the next 6 months to a more fulfilling and rewarding position.

Think of it as a charachter building exprience, work real hard to get a job you will be content in and enjoy work and life!

    Kudos to your positive attitude.

People get used to a certain level of economic comfort and certainty and can find it hard to make a change from a job even if they hate the work and the atmosphere at work.
I took voluntary redundancy from a large, demanding mulitinational in Nov '07 when the first chill winds of recession started blowing across the land.
At that time everyone wanted to take the package and run as many were fed up with the place and the attitude towards non-degree qualified workers.
Basically they treated us like children and to a certain extent we reacted by acting like children. There was little or no room for development as I was not exactly qualified for the work they did in the place and was always playing catch up to the people who were.
I took a course in FAS to get off the dole and even before the course was finished, landed a job in the teeth of a world wide recession and I am enjoying the work so far. It is far better than my old job and the people are all far nicer.
Perhaps if I had the exact qualifications and knowledge fro the old job things might have worked out better but I am glad I made the move.
