Coarse fishing license?

Just starting up coarse fishing and trying to find out about licenses.

Do you need to buy a license for general coarse fishing?

Or do you have to buy a license for each river/lake you want to fish?

Do we have a "rod" license in ireland?

Seems to be hard to find license information online, the only info I could find was buying a trout and salmon license, no mention of coarse fishing license anywhere, yet I heard of people saying you can be done for coarse fishing without a license???? so what exactly do I need to get?

And what are the "rules" for coarse fishing.

Any info appriciated on this, thanks.

There's no "rod" license, or coarse fishing license required in Ireland, you only need a license for Salmon and Sea Trout. Some locations will be controlled by clubs or some other organisation and you may need to pay for membership or a day permit, but there's plenty of coarse locations where you won't need to. The ERFB website (http://www.fishingireland.net/) has a coarse section which will give you some locations and will say if they're free access or if a permit is required. It also mentiosn some of the regulations, and you can find more on them on the CFB site (http://www.cfb.ie).
