Growth before Wax

I just wanted to know something. I don't usually venture forth into the waxing world. Last time I did it it left me purple and bleeding :( although I do admit the benefit afterwards was great.

Anyway, have booked a last minute holiday and am leaving in two weeks. My question is, how long do most women leave their legs bikini area to grow before a wax?? I have two weeks and am really hoping that will be enough. I'm fairly sure that last time it was a last min decision too and I went in with even less growth time, though she did say she wouldn't get all of the hair.

I absolutely HATE letting my hair grow for this, but will if I think two weeks would be a decent time for letting it grow beforehand. Otherwise I won't put myself through the misery and will just keep shaving.

Any ideas? I have quite thick hair which tends to grow rather fast, though it's a long time since I have let it do so. What's the average period of regrowth????

Thanks ;) Believe me I wasn't expecting the vivid purple marks or the bleeding before i went, otherwise I wouldn't have gone!!! No one I've spoken to has ever experienced the same thing so it was either my sensitive skin or the beautician. Luckily the marks had disappeared before my holidays but there was blood under the skin for quite a while, and my underwear was covered in blood when I came home!!

Anyway I'm going to book a different one this time so it will be interesting to see if it goes well!! Will forewarn her about last time!!

    That ^^^ sounds rough!

Make sure its hot wax. the therepist knows you've sensitive skin, and get some bepanthen cream to sooth the area afterwards.

I hope you don't go through that again. And two weeks growth is usually more than enough.:)

I'll definitely tell them over the phone when I'm making the appointment. Is hot wax better for sensitive skin? I'm fairly sure the last time the girl used hot wax but can't be positive. Remember her being fairly brutal but thought it was part of the package :-( Anyway will stock up on bepanthen...... That's the baby cream right??

    Thanks for the advice guys.

Go for Lycon wax, as used in Brazilia. Best of all imo.

I might be getting all confused here, but i'm sure i was told by a beauty therapist before that you shouldn't use hot wax on the bikini area.

I always get hot wax for my eyes brows, but they have never used it for my bikini area, it's always been the warm wax and the strips.

As for your experience your a very brave girl going through that again, cant believe it was that bad. On occassions i might get a bit of bleeding, but nothing like what you described.

Could it of been the therapist that did it. She girl i use is always reminding me to pull as much as i can one way while she does the other way and then rips it off lol. Something about the more you stretch the skin the less painful it is. Works for me as it's never really hurt me that much being waxed anywhere before.

I think your experience getting waxed depends on the therapist as well.

I went one time and the girl took so flippin long my legs were in bits.

Here's the wax they use in Brazilia and I think UrbanWax http://www.lycon.ie/about.html

Believe me, it is waaay better than the strips or any other torturous methods!

I'm a beauty therapist and generally hot wax is best for the bikini and underarm region.

Having sensitive skin really makes no odds when it comes to choosing hot/warm wax...they're all the same on your skin.

Most salons-Urban Wax definitely do-use both warm + hot wax.

Hair on your legs needs to be at least 1 mm and on the bikini line should be an eyelash length (any longer is too long so trim it).

It's natural to get blood spots. It's a result of hair being pulled effectively from the follicle which is attached to the blood supply...blood spotting should disappear after 4-6 hours and your underwear should definitely not be covered in blood! Blood under the skin, on the other hand is bruising caused by poor technique and not stretching the skin effectively. :)
