i use those boots, i have the origional version that many players used during the last world cup.they are great, except for one major defect.the midddle of the udersole tends to come apart after about a year or so of use.and i can assure you it is not only with my boots that this happened but with all of my other friends who use them too.this seems to happen with all preditor boots, not only the rugby version ones too, just a word of advice, apart from that they were fantastic.

i play fullback,so id kick from hand a good bit and the preditors do the job in that department anway.a goal kicking prop wow! what does your out half have to say about that? lol :D, i wouldn't know too many props that wear preds to be honest its mostly backs that wear them.dont think they would be great when coming to scrum time, but im no expert on scrums,im sure somebdy else can answer that for you.

I honestly don't get the big deal with boots, Like E100+ Sounds just crazy to me. I can understand forwards wanting bigger studs and backs wanting light boots but what I don't get is people changing from their E150 superduperkiller Preds to the E200 Superduperkillermonster preds :D

I have the firm ground version of the current rugby predators.

I have had to take the insole out because of orthotics that i wear for my feet.

The groove for the power pulse is currently being filled by play dough. (Better suggestions for this problem would be greatly appreciated)

They're good. The rugby preds are a wider fit than regular preds by the way.

    I ordered mine from pro-driect rugby/soccer.

They were too small, had to send them back and pay €15 postage. Then the size i wanted was out of stock and i got a refund for the price of the boots only. I had to pay for postage second time round from rugbystore.co.uk. I was not pleased.

Oh yes, i have a query!

Why are a heck of a lot of GAA players wearing rugby predators now?

Christ the predators would get torn apart in the front row, theyre not gonna make you start pinging them over.

As a previous second row/flanker I found Nike Total 90's perfect, grand and light but tough as hell, just replace the studs.

Dude if your a forward, especially a prop, you should not be in Preds! Get a decent pair of Mizuno with long studs and you ll be sorted.

Don't listen to the naysayers here Depp. They're just backs using gypsy magic like tactics to try to lure you into a sense of not being entitled to where the stylish preds. Remember; props can be stylish too, glad to see your goalkicking as well. Throw in a few unexpected drop goal beauts in some games too, break down each stereotype as you go, just like me proving white boys can jump on the basketball court.

the look of shock on the other teams faces when a drop goal is scored by a prop...priceless. also i play alotof gaelic aswell so mizunos and whatnot are **** for that. and my goalkicking...its very, very occaisional, like wen the outhalf says"oh i cant be arsed runnin up ta get the ball, dempsey, you take it"

+1 on this- I have these boots too, and the middle of the undersole is coming away badly on both feet. I've had the boots for almost a year, and they are really comfortable, but at the price you pay, this defect should not happen. I've worn them on hard ground more than soft, but still shouldn't happen...

Well that makes sense if you play GAA, just make sure the clean them throughly and coat with vaseline. The cracked midsole is probably from the sole being part of the whole shoe rather than upper and lower being different, for better flexibility.

Would be interesting to see how long Adidas think you should get out of the boot, I'd imagine a year is a bit on the low slide.

I've given preds a try... never again. Big heavy things that fall apart, in my experience.

World Cups in winter, Copas for firm ground. Simple, brilliant boots.

My opinion? They are basically trying to be more 'professional' and all 'geared up' lol. .

Oh and I have these boots, they brilliant recommend them to anyone however if you are a prop DO NOT buy them the grip in scrums is not the best. Instead I would advise you to buy the Adidas 9/15s. Very good grip and good for kicking too. I had them before I changed to the Preds. I play flanker and center so the Preds are comfortable, strong and really, really good for kicking, out of hand and place kicking. Well worth the money. BUY THEM AS THERE KINDA CHEAP NOW!!!! you won't regret it!

Same reason rugby players do. There is nothing wrong with gaa players wearing rugby boots

I got these boots for £30 - great value and really good boots...

    http://www.rugbystore.co.uk/collections/clearout/bootsclear/adidas_915_111_rugby_boots

Might not be as proficient as the Preds for kicking the ball, but I'm more of a running winger. Kicking is cheating as they say (not really).

Seriously though, really good boots, and light and flexible - perfect for backs.

Would the old-style puma kings be a good boot to buy???

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I'm serious!! Best boots for you are the Adidas 9/15s!!! Trust me!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,850 ✭✭✭Depp

i had them before and and i want a change, whats wrong with kings?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,173 ✭✭✭FridaysWell

they are not the best boots! Adidas 9/15s are made for rugby, then will give you good grip, be comfortable, be able to get you around the park quickly and they are good for kicking. Anywho its up to you :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,850 ✭✭✭Depp

9 15s are pure class ill admit that but i just really like them puma kings

hmm if you had them before and you really liked them then maybe you shuold get them. They are one thing less off you mind when your playing/training I suppose lol even though they just are boots they are important. I just prefer the 9/15s even though I have the preds now. . . :)
