    hi

looking for a fire insert to fit into a standard opening in a new build (3ft x3ft).i have a hrv system which requires the stove to have an external air supply. i have ducted a 4inch pipe under the floor and need the connection to be at the bottom of the stove. I have looked far and wide and seem to be hitting one problem after another with the different models (heat required is only about 5kw)

can any recommend a model that they have used?

also looking for a freestanding similare model to fit into a taller opening - standard width with the air supply at the bottom aswell? any recommendations much appreciated.

    thanks

Not saying u wont find one but the problem with a bottom feed is the ashpan.

    Most are at back

For the free standing one consider putting it on a stand out from the wall and return the air into it or raise the hearth to conceal the bend in the pipe.

Be aware that best practice for air supply is that you have it from two opposite sides of the house to reduce the risk of down/back draft due to wind pressure. Most air supply systems come with an non return flap

Pay a bit more attention to the design height of the chimney/chimney pot and any cowl you fit to minimize risk of down draft
