Graphic Design...I need help!

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I'm interested in studying to become a graphic designer. I only did a secretarial course when I finished school (got the Leaving Cert) and have worked ever since. I work full-time (can't afford not to & my empolyers are completely inflexible about time off, changing my work hours or letting me work part-time). I live in Co Wexford and am trying to find a course to do in the evenings. I can't find anything remotely local other than a beginners course in Photoshop (which i think i'll do just to get started). I've been on the Open University website but can't really figure out if the courses are suitable.

Personally, distance-learning probably suits best due to time restrictions but I do feel that a class-based course would be more helpful as i'm really starting at the bottom rung.

Can anyone recommend what's the best path to take? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I feel like I've hit a brick wall on researching this!

See if there is any night course running in your area. Could you travel to dublin for night course? Few colleges in dun laoghaire which offer night courses and communte might be douable.

Other optinion is www.lynda.com - great for software training - photoshop/illustrator/indesign /flash but you will still need a course on gd principles/ theory etc to back up/complement the software training - but u you could start there.

    hope this helps:)

Thanks very much for the reply. There are no courses in my area and Dublin would be okay except for the restrictions in my crappy job!! I'll certainly investigate the website you suggested though! Thanks a million, I could be one step nearer...:D
