I was passing Claregalway business park a while ago and noticed that it would be a prefect place to head for during a zombie outbreak and to hold up for a prolonged amount of time.

Business parks and industrial estates look like they'd be perfect places to hold up. Not all business parks are equal mind, the likes of the one in Claregalway are perfect though. Most industrial estates follow the same format and it's the buildings that make them perfect. There usually big square buildings with two entrances, one normal door and one large electric door big enough to back a truck into. The building is brick up to about 10ft and after that it's a sheet metal building. That is important.

The big door is an obvious security risk but the ability to bring a vehicle into the building is also very beneficial. The door could be easily secured though.

If you look at the layout of these estates the buildings are either adjoined or very close to each other. This is where the metal sheet top of the building comes into it's own. You could have one building for living in with a secured large door, then cut through the the metal sheet that covers the top of the building and make a bridge to the adjoining building that could be used for manufacture and vehicles that could leave the large door unsecured.

The estates themselves (bar the ones in cities) have allot of open ground around them, this makes security easier in that any zombies are easy to spot and flank should a large amount get in. It is also surrounded by high fences.

Gougane Barra is a definite site for long term use. Protected on three sides by steep mountain, forest, meadow, fresh water & lake. One road in which bottlenecks by the lake so very easy defence even if stormed. This place gives one the ability to grow food and live long term in one of the most picturesque parts of the country. There's also a hotel there so drinking the bar dry could be attempted!! (there are also award winning toilets in the park but the standard my well slip in the event of an apocalyptic zombie infestation and a church, endless uses there too)

PS should there be a zombie infestation and I need to use this area I will defend:D

For the most acurate maps of Ireland nevermind the google maps what you want is the Irish ordinance survey map. Zoom in on that bad boy and you'll find the most detailed and accurate map of Ireland. It has high resolution satellite photos of the entire country with all buildings marked out.
