I had booked a flight for this monday with Sky Europe Airlines to fly from Lisbon to Vienna. They have just emailed me to tell me that their Vienna flights have been rerouted and that my flight will go to Bratislava instead, and they have changed the time. None of this suits me, am I entitled to ask for a refund?

Try for the refund. If they resist they have to book you with another airline who will deliver you to your destination. And don't pay them more money

You should be, but you should check their terms & conditions to be sure.

On the original email, all it says is "Paid fare can be refunded to the passenger only upon grounds provided for by the applicable laws." whatever that means.

Im actually thinking that I'll just stay in Lisbon anyway, but the cash would be handy.

Not meaning to alarm you, but SkyEurope are in serious financial trouble at the moment. They reason Vienna is out is because they have been unable to pay their bills to the airport and the airport has seized one of their planes.

They have been in serious difficulty for a while now but somehow they manage to keep going with extra banking support.

More details can be found on PPrune.com website.

You can only make up your own mind about accepting the diversion, but in their situation, they will probably be extremely difficult to get a refund from. As for compensation - mandatory or otherwise.....

I can concur with what Superscouse said. They owe me €110 after they charged my card twice for one flight. They have been ignoring my emails for 2 months, delivery failure reports have come instead. I rang them and was assured that I would be getting it but still nothing. If you paid by CC Id ask your company for a refund instead- I wish I had done this at the time but they told me there is a 3 month time limit on getting transactions refunded and I had missed it.
OP if you want to fly to Bratislava instead then Vienna is only an hour away on the train.

    Hi

I have a AIG's “Medicare” Extra Travel Insurance" purchased via www.123.ie
It is a silver trip pack.

I have my flights booked to Prague from Amsterdam through www.skyeurope.com airlines.
Unfortunately they have gone bankrupt and now cancelled all their flights from today.

They have refused to pay back if payment is not made through credit card.

Could you please guide me how to claim back my flight expenses?

I have made my hotel bookings too which will be lost.

The insurance policy does not specify about claims when airlines suspends their flights. Has anyone have dealt with such situations before?

As ever, the first port of call should be your insurer. Nobody here can give you the advice they can about their coverage!

i called the insurance now and they say they do not cover airline bankrupt. only delays/cancellation

Did you pay by credit card? If so, your card issuer may provide a refund.

Well its happened. As I mentioned on a previous post, Skyeurope went bang today. They have suspended all flights and have issued a statement that refunds will not be possible.

Hope you didnt pay to much for those flights.

    More details here.

to avoid creditcard charges, i bought the skyeurope vouchers using my credit card and paid for the ticket using vouchers...
will complaining to consumer court or aviation court work?

Sorry to say, but you have no chance of any money back from them. They are bankrupt. They have nothing to give you. You mentioned aviation court, what aviation court? Booking direct with them means you are not covered by any ATOL, ABTA or any of the other bonds.

If you bought vouchers with a credit card, and they WERE supplied, then I dont think your credit card company will do anything for you either. You got what you paid for - vouchers!

I hope you prove me wrong, but I dont see anything you can do here. Did you lose much?
