So, I was just sitting there watching a movie and all of a sudden a thin yellow line appears on my monitor. Some quick research showed it's a common problem with LCD screens? and iMacs? Anyone know anything about this? Can it be fixed? I only have the computer a little over 3 years. I did try to print screen but of course it doesn't show up..duh :pac:

Almost anything can be fixed. Is it worth getting fixed is the question.

Is it a G5? I'm pretty sure Apple had a repair program for some of them. But it's probably over now.

It could just be the display but I think in a lot of these cases the logic board/video card was the problem. Either way it's not a cheap repair - as in you could buy a new machine for a little extra.

Do you have an external display you could connect the iMac to? It would be a good test to see if it is the logic board. I'm not sure if the print out would indicate this. Do you have the original install discs? If so try booting into Apple Hardware Test and see what it says.

If the problem starts getting worse then you'll know it's the logic board and you can start performing the last rites.

Yeah, it's a G5. Will try with the external display later. I don't want to say goodbye to my lovely computer. :(

I now have three lines although one keeps fading, maybe I should have called someone in August.
