it seems a bachelors in engineering through science is better than a bachelors in enginnering through arts?!

we get a BAI from trinity.

We do indeed. We also get a BA with it too. Buy one degree, get one free.

It makes no difference what the degree is called. And I dispute that a BEng or BE or BSc is better than a BA BAI just because of the name.

is it just because of the name though? or do people that do BSc (ENG) do something different making it better then us doing BAI?

Trinity was the first in this part of the world to offer a engineering degree in modern form. Back then everything was latin so BAI

The BAI has exactly the same standing internationally and is recognised the world over by the professional engineering bodies, eg IEI, IET and so on.

The BAI has gone through the exact same certification process as these new fangled Beng things

It's not officially a BA in Maths btw, it's an undenominated BA. I think it used to be specifically in Maths but these days it's just a BA. Again, no difference really in terms of accreditation.

And I got my info from my time in college doing (amongst other things) the BAI.

You should definitely go to Waterford IT and get your better degree .

It's a level 8 qualification, for all intents and purposes its no better or worse then any other accredited level 8 engineering qualification.

By the way, another example in Trinity of offering 'different' (in the eyes of the modern world) degrees is the BA (mod) in Theoretical Physics. While it allows slagging of Trinity graduates from that course by other graduates in the same field, the course doesn't suffer in reputation from the giving of a BA (mod).

Can i just ask ya what that's all about Donal? Someone mentioned that to me before, but ive seen nothing on the TCD site about it. What's the setup with getting the two degrees?

Edit: sorry too late, so ya get a BAI and an undenominated BA in maths yeah? I presume ya get both of them on graduation?

It's just a BA, as in, not a BA in maths, just a BA. That's what I mean when I say undenominated. And yeah you get both of them at Graduation.

Thanks for that. Just curious, but have ya any idea of why it's like that? I presume it's just some sort of throwback to ye olden dayes or somethin?

Like which, with the BA given with it? Yeah, I remember some reason like all professional degrees (Medicine, Engineering etc.) had to be given a BA for some reason, can't remember for sure though.

Depending on the work you do and who you work for there is no such thing as a typical day
