The European Unions principle of free movement of workers means that you can get a job in any country of the European Union, as well as in Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein (also known as the EEA countries) and Switzerland.

Only around 2% of European citizens live and work in a different Member State from their country of origin. Yet, the benefits of working abroad are multiple, because you can...

...gain new professional and personal skills, that is, develop your competencies, self-confidence and communication ability

...get new insights and different perspectives, that is, expand your cultural background and learn or improve a foreign language

...choose the most convenient job for you, that is, find a permanent, a temporary or a seasonal job

What can EURES do for you?

Through the EURES portal you have access to relevant workers mobility information, to job search functionalities and also to a network of around 800 EURES Advisers who are ready to help you. For example...

by selecting "Search for a job" you can access job vacancies in 31 European countries updated in real time

by registering for free to "My EURES" for job seekers you can create your CV and make it available to registered employers and for EURES advisers helping employers to find suitable candidates

by accessing the section on "Living and Working", you can prepare yourself well and be better informed about the employment situation and living and working conditions in another EEA country.

In this section you can find which labour markets of the EEA countries are restricted during a transitional period to citizens of Bulgaria and Romania and of the ten Member States that joined the EU on 1 May 2004

by clicking on "Contact a EURES adviser" or by contacting a local or regional employment office, you have access to a range of information tools and can get advice on many practical, legal and administrative issues involved in finding and accepting a job abroad.

If you want to know what practical steps you should take to find a job and move abroad, then consult the checklists posted in the web page "Are you a graduate?". You will find useful information from job searches to facts regarding settling in a foreign country.
