Should I have appealed my JSB amount decision?

When I applied for social welfare in May and was granted Jobseeker's Benefit for 234 days at €160.10 per week, I was informed that if I wasn't happy with this amount I could apply for supplementary allowance. What is the likelihood that I'd have qualified for a supplementary allowance?

Also, should I have proceeded to get myself means tested for Jobseeker's Allowance? What is the likelihood that I would have been entitled to a higher amount if it was JSA rather than JSB that I received? I'm a 23 y/o currently living with parents.

Just looking for general advice on this really :)

You should have signed a form when making that claim opting for JB. It sounds like you didn't earn enough money in 2007 to qualify for full-rate JB. You might get more on JA - depends on whether your parents are working or not. As for SWA - I don't know about this as it's Health Board stuff.

Because you are 23 and living with your parents, their income would be taken into account in regards means for JSA. If they are working you probably wouldn't qualify for the full rate of JSA.

Eskimo I think we are in the same boat. I am 24 and live with parents. While I am waiting for the processing of app, I was told that I had the credits for the full JSB amount, but because I live at home and am under 25 I would only got €160. If I didn't qualify for JSB I would get nothing due to parental income, so it must be the same with you.

Actually lowered to €130, better than nothing though!
