Here's the points for the different grades at different levels:

Table Of Points for Leaving Certificate Grades
    Grade Higher Level (Ard)
    A1 100
    A2 90
    B1 85
    B2 80
    B3 75
    C1 70
    C2 65
    C3 60
    D1 55
    D2 50
    D3 45
    Grade Ordinary Level (Gnáth)
    A1 60
    A2 50
    B1 45
    B2 40
    B3 35
    C1 30
    C2 25
    C3 20
    D1 15
    D2 10
    D3 5

If he has at least 5 pass grades at either Ordinary or Higher, he may want to look at PLC courses. Your local VEC (County Dublin VEC or CDVEC) will be having enrolment days soon. He can go and chat to the people there about his options. To be honest, his own school should have covered all this with him.

he should already have applied to the CAO for level 6/7 and level 8 courses. A lot of the level 8 courses are 300+ but he may be offered a course from the level 6/7 on Monday if he applied for it.
Other then that you should take a look at the Qualifax website and look at all courses, it gives you information on all courses, what they entail and how to apply. You could also consider FAS apprenticships as another possibility.

Has he applied to the CAO? If so, he may get an offer of a course which can be verified on www.cao.ie monday morning. If he wishes to accept this course offer then you will have to respond on his behalf. Otherwise from 12 o clock tuesday the 'available places' list will be on www.cao.ie where he can apply for those courses if he fulfils the entry requirements.

You said 3 honours 3 passes. Does this mean he failed one? If it was a basic entry subject that would exclude him from a course even if he has the points, but different courses require different subjects so he has options whatever subject he failed (or maybe he did 6?)

Every course in the country can be found on www.qualifax.ie

Some courses don't operate through the CAO
