Pick 'n' mix costs a fortune, i've often loaded up bags full of pick 'n' mix to find that I didn't have enough to pay for it. Embarrassing moment follows.:o

you picked but didn't mix - rookie mistake.

    scumbags.

next time bring in some egg and cabbage sandwiches.

and if they try to throw you out just scoff the lot and casually burp in their face as you leave.

    that'll learn 'em

I was in a shop here in Galway during Race Week (Gala, formerly Vivo) one night at about 4a.m and this thick, ignorant redneck down in Galway to splash the cash for a couple of days and make an eejit of his drunken self, ordered some chicken things from the hot counter. The assistant handed him the foiled bag of said things and he takes one out with his durty hand and asks, in a very aggressive manner, "is this all I get for x euro?" and she nods her head and says "yeah". He says "Well you can go and **** yourself."

He puts the chicken thing back in the package and hands the package back to the assistant.

The assistant then emptied the chicken things from the foiled bag back into the hot metal tray for sale again.

In that short scene, I saw everything that is wrong with this country today. Greed, aggression and bad service.

If you were out on a date, this is the kind of devil-may-care extravagance that makes the ladies think you're a flash git.

    Just a kind warning.

People who whinge about the cost of things in the cinema and then proceed to pay for it all the while wondering why they can charge such prices. I have no idea myself.

Exactly. I stopped going to the cinema because of this. I refuse to pay the prices anymore.

Why do you need to smuggle them in? I've never been challenged when walking in with them in my hand.

I have seen some cinemas search but they have no legal right to do so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,137 ✭✭✭Monkey61

Oh stop the presses - "Cinema food is expensive shocker"...hmm it's not like we haven't known that since the dawn of cinemas. Honestly OP have you never been to a cinema before?

Just for future reference and to save potential heart attacks - airports, concerts and festivals - also pretty pricey food and drink contained inside.

How hard is it to go to the shops before you arrive at the cinema, there is always a newsagents handily positioned nearby.

Its not a rip off if people are paying that price

Prices would probably come down if people like you didn't pay €1.18 for an effing jelly

If you notice on boards, most people who make "Rip Off!!!1" threads are the ones paying these "Rip Off" prices

I went to Woolworths before going to the cinema a few years ago. They were clearing out the pic n mix for some reason. Got a large coke cup to fill up with as much goodies as possible for £2. Didn't finish the thing for weeks.

Yes, no rip off, you were free to choose to buy it or not.

I would have gone back and got a second identical snake, I bet the price would not have been double that. I bet they have a crooked scales, and/or the bags themselves are lined with lead or something.

Only yourself to blame, I got a 5 pack of full size rolos for €1.13 in supervalu the other day.
