Management work their socks off and retain 160+ jobs...
SIPTU try to wreck it!! Basically out of sheer greed!

Right now im of the opinion SIPTU should be disbanded & outlawed.

Yes banning trade unions is the way to go. Why stop there I'll give the Germans a call and see if Dachau is avaidible.

Without trade unions there would be no healthy balance of power between employer and employee and employer's would basically be able to do whatever they want. However, perhaps the balance has shifted abit too much. The trade unions have amassed so much power and are motivated sometimes by sheer greed. The government, in the public sector, needs to grow some balls and stand up to them. The pharmacy strike was a great victory for the government. Let them sulk as long as they want, like an unruly child, they'll eventually have to come around and accept it.

I don't think trade unions should be done away with altogether but someone does need to stand up to them sometimes, especially in the public sector. For example, Iarnród Éireann workers seem to be willing to strike at the drop of a hat... "uh, we want a pay rise for driving new trains." You're already on €45k a year ffs!

...and another example...talking with my brother in law who works for CRH..tells me that they are on a 3 day week...business very slack at moment...but there are 13 lads there...they clock out at 4.30 but het paid to 17.30 When i asked why he told me the Union sorted it for them. when i pionted out that that what they took equaled a full time position for another guy he said that was tough!! so that proves how much Unions value jobs...they just want to see how mucg they can line their pockets1

Does the financial situation not tell people that the trade unions a needed now more than ever. Now that the old boys network are closing ranks on the general population, wanting to reduce the minimum wage. Additional taxes have being imposed on the weakest members of society, while the guys who caused the situation play golf and socialise with the politicians, who are bailing them out at massive expense to the state. And the union gets flac for standing up for the rights who have no one else to help them. Why would anyone try to persuade anyone that's a reasonable suggestion? Weird. :mad::mad:

Over 10,000 jobs lost in Ireland per month for almost a year because of these guys, and their punishment is a big fat pay off. Good god..

God forbid the politicians should become unpopular in their elitist social circle, just for the sake of standing up for whats right for their electorate, and whats right of course. Why should they bother? They won't lose their jobs for making a total mess either.

Politicians fool the people into thinking they are getting what the people want. Then the politicians go and do whatever they want and to hell with those who voted them into power.

I'll lower taxes, reduce the price of beer, take all Bono's money, build playgrounds everywhere and reduce the cost of child care, I'll increase children's allowance by 100%, I'll get rid of VAT on luxuries, I'll actually get rid of VAT altogether, I'll ban Big Brother, I'll ban soaps from being broadcast if a man is in the room, I'll get rid of the TV licence and Gerry Ryan, Pat Kenny, Joe Duffy et al, I'll make sure everyone has a job.

Ok. Only landowners will be allowed to vote. Those who do not own land (including those with a mortgage (you are still paying for it)) are not allowed to vote.
