Difference between provisional license and learner permit?

    I was wondering what the difference between the two was... if anyone could clear this out for me...!

    AFAIK the only difference is that on your 2nd provisional you could drive unaccompanied while on your learners permit you cannot.

    It's a rebranding essentially. The provisional licenses are no longer being issued.

    1. First learner permit holders must wait at least 6 months before being able to take their test.
    2. All learner Permit holders in categories B, C and D (including sub-categories to allow the use of trailers etc) must be accompanied by someone who has held his/her full license for at least 2 years at all times, this includes 2nd learner permits.
    ...I think that's essentially it, although i may have missed something.

    The main reason behind the change was to reinforce the idea that you are only learning after all i think
