    Hello,

Thinking about doing the Elevation Programme for ACA.

Have some knowledge of Accounting and working full-time (non-finance job).

    5 exams in CAP1.

Should I attempt all 5 in Year 1 or should I do 2 or 3 first?

Any advice on Elevation and ACA would be appreciated.

Id say do them all, uve more of a chance to pick up a few of those exams, and then if u fail you can repeat them!!!

Thinking that all 5 a bit much to do in Year 1. Working full time as well.

Is it normal practice for students to do all 5 in on one go?

yeah in practice most people do five in one go.. but they have 6 weeks study leave aswell though.

you musbt be preety dedicated if ur gonno be doing from cap 1 cause i can tell u there very very hard .

Do you think you could get six weeks off from your employer if you can well then do them all, if u cant well then take 2 maybe three.

Finance and Managment accountign are by far the hardest, Tax and law are easy enough and fincial accounting!

Yes it is normal practice. The exams are very tough though. They're no walk in the park but if you're dedicated and you're working hard at them you'll be able to manage them, but that's including the fact that most students get their paid time off.

If you're not getting this time off, I'd recommend you sit 3 in one sitting (Law & Tax are considered as being one subject).

    Thanks for the replies.

If CAP1 is tough, then I'm really worried about CAP2 & FAE.

Thinking I might attempt all CAP1 for May and if I have to repeat any then repeat them in September.

Otherwise, If I only take say 3 CAP1 for next May, I have to wait a full year to complete the remaining two CAP1. Waste of a year?

I'm still unsure on what to do?

Id say if u get throught cap1 ull be ok for cap2 , the pass rate for cap1 is lower than for cap 2!! yeah may aswell sit them all, and see if u can get the repeats if u fail one or two!!

I wouldnt go into this lightly if you ahve proberly thoguht ti throught well then ur ok, but the exams are like final year college but worse!!!

What was the CAP 1 pass rate like? The individual papers had a high enough pass rate at CAP 2 level, but for people sitting all 4 papers the rate was a stunningly low 52%.

AFAIK, they're front loading the difficulty now. So if you get thru CAP 1's you should be able to make it thru the rest if you put the work in.

I'd say you may as well go for the 5 papers (remember, tax and law = 1/2 paper each). At least if you pass 3 in the first sitting you can try and get the other 2 at the repeat and have it out of the way in a year. It's not like you've the pressure of being fired if you fail the repeats like.

And kudos for giving it a shot, they're tough exams, but definitely do-able.
