    Hi all,

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if i am allowed to have white led strobes in my grill, i use them when am pulling trailers that are slightly wider than my car and sometimies in very thick fog as they are seen much further away than the headlights and incase i ever come across an acident i could use them to warn other roads users as hazards lights arent great. is white ok or will i have to change them to yellow???

The strobes have differnet settings i never use the 1 that flashes light a garda car, i use the 1 that flashes both led lights together something like you would see on a wide or long load lorry.

Hope you can help me out.

Afaik your not allowed the use of any strobe lights on a car or any other potentially misleading/ blinding lights. I can't find the link to back me up for now but as soon as I find it will post.

    general rule for lights:
    only white facing forward
    Amber on the sides
    Red only for rear facing

There is no legislation for white LED except that they look sort of blueish.

You CANNOT have blue or red flashing LED's anywhere on your vehicle. Its in the ROTR which is also directly me to transport.ie but that website is far to expansive to get you the actual law.

Im aware there are trucks going around with red ones on the back. Illegal.

    Thanks so far

like ino emergency cars use blue and red, doctor on call use green, and construction use yellow. i dont know any others that use white so surely if i used them in fog or where ever, i wouldn be classed as imitateing a garda or any other emergency car??? like i only use them like you would ur hazard lights, they both flash on and off together lik the hazards and there not classed as distracting, are they?

    How bright are they?
In fog, do you use them to see or be seen?

Surely orange strobes would be more of an indication to other road users that there is a long/wide load approaching?

i use them to be seen.

white was the only colour i could get at the time so thats why i dont have yellow ones
