    Hey guys.

My Dad's in hospital at the mo with suspected encephalitis. They thought it was menningitus, but now they think it's encephalitis. And I'm looking for a support group for this disease, or someone to talk to about it. It's left myself and my family very upset and confused.

    Thanks
    Emmie

    Hey,

Sorry to hear about your dad. There is a support and information group called Encephalitis Ireland, here is a link for their website.

Maybe don't read the encephalitis websites just yet. It can be a bit scary and overwhelming as they cover all the worst case scenarios.
My husband had encephalitis. His family and my relations got quite upset reading about all the possibilities. He made a complete recovery and is back working as a surgeon. At one point he didn't know how old he was or how many brothers and sisters he has.
Keep in close contact with his medical team. Ideally have somebody around when the ward round is on.
