So we are all fully aware of the rules regarding EVs in traffic and at lights

You get out of their way if possible and they can break lights once doing it safely etc.

What's the situation with railway level crossings? Can the emergency services get trains held up to be able to cross the barriers? Merrion gates for example can be closed for 4-5 minutes at a time if 2-3 trains going through.

Have regularly seen ambulances waiting at various level crossings with the lights going (sirens off thankfully!!), I'd imagine that by the time the ambulance got onto the controller, the controller to IE and then on to the train driver the train would have passed.

I guess if there were, as you said enought trains coming to cause a 5 minute delay the employee at the level crossing could stop them, just speculating though. There are communications there betweeen the driver and the man at the level crossing I would assume

Folks - you stop and wait! Its the only option!

There is no way around it! I aint arguing with no train!

You sit there until the gates lift and then you can make your way through the traffic!

Itd be fairly hard to stop the train in fairness, they need a large braking length!!

Inform control, try get a closer unit there faster i guess!

Most crossings are unmanned these days. Even if they are manned, if the gates are closed, it usually means a train is less than 90 seconds away, so not enough time to stop it.

Looking on the bright side, they can test who has the loudest horn!:D

And this is what can happen if you chance it!!

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

sit and wait, chances are the client in the back didn't really need the ambulance in the first place??

Alaways wait at a crossing point, then its look listen look.
Ive only ever heard of Trafic being stopped when theres a one under ( suicide )
or when the Gaurds are chasing someone down the tracks even then Ive seen this on cctv and never got a call from anyone asking to have traffic stopped.

by the way it would be quicker if the train passed then go through the motions of calling ctc and having the train stopped.
the only time it would be convienient is if the loco was stationary at a station with a crossing at the end and the es aere able to talk directly with the gaurd (crossing one that is!!)

Yes its just a matter of it and wait a train is a bit bigger than an ambulance.
The train is even bigger than a fire appliance
no question as to who would win....................................
