Setting up a business

I'm finding myself in the situation where I have an idea for a new company which is an online service.

The tech side of concept is shaping up and I would be interested in knowing what would be the next steps required to create a business entity and register a .ie address.

I've looked around on the net but I keep finding websites who offer to do all this for me, for various different fees. However, I'd be up for doing it myself.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Edit: We forsee the potential for liability issues in the future (its inherent to business models of this type) so it would be a limited company that we would be interested in setting up.

cro.ie should have all the information for you.

You need the receipt from them to register a .ie domain with your hosting provider.

Register365 is a good site for setting up domain. To set up a ltd company you will need to fill out form A1 from CRO and provide an Articles of Association and Memorandum (these need to be signed by Solicitor). Usually takes CRO 15 days to turn around, you need company number before you can buy domain adress.

PM me if you require further details.

No you just need to register a business name and get the receipt from the CRO.

OP: the cost of a .ie address is circa €75

For a DIY job, on the 'standard' option submission, what would be the rough cost of registering the company and the name? I've always wondered about this!

CRO registration fee is €100 for a company. The solicitors signature and stamp on docs obviously variable

Are you serious? Who's charging that?

Letshost charge €24 inc vat PA.
Not 100% but I think they are the cheapest.

So we are talking around €150 for domain name, Company registration and name registration. Then whatever the cost of getting a solicitors stamp.

That is quite a bit less then the online places, I think I'll do this myself!

Don't go with those companies its actually quite easy to do it yourself. Ltd company a bit trickier than sole trader but all the info is on cro.
