Hi there, just wondering if there is any further detailed info on the start of the Tour next Friday? Tour of Ireland site doesn't have any really detailed info at this stage. I'm guessing Powerscourt will be closed off and wondering if anyone has any other info or plans on seeing the start.

Was at the finish of the Giro this year and it was amazing. Wandering around the team buses and chatting with the cyclists was awesome.

    Thanks

The neutralised start will be at the hotel parking, the Ritz Carlton in Powerscourt. The cyclists will take it left into Enniskerry and around the village all he way up to the Texaco and back down to the real start at the Enniskerry Clock. I am guessing most Enniskerry will be closed off. i am not sure what will be the best way to access it by car. the best will be to make a spin out of it.

the sign on will be interresting, outside the hotel ( I think ) - all the teams have to sign the start sheet about 9AM - they have 45 minutes to do that or they're out the race. Because it's the 1st day, they usualy make a proper appearance on the stage, team by team.

Thanks Caroline! If we didn't have a friend staying, I'd be booking a room (if any left!) at the Ritz. Enjoyed it last time we stayed there. Cant ride down and leave her in bed I guess! Bugger

Is your friend American as well? Sadly for the most part they have no alternative to the car. :pac:

Sure is, from the race manual it says it's a 2.4k stretch from start to finish.
