    Hi All

I would be interested in hearing if anyone is using 'Sky Player' and their experiences of it.

My big thing is are you able to view live premiership matches?

    Thanks

(Did do a search on sky player but it kept freezing)

If you have a multiroom subscription you can.

Its an awful shame they dont offer a sky player add on for say €5 a month. I dont want multiroom but i would use sky player.

I have been using it for July and August and its pretty good.

I'm pretty sure non-multiroom customers can pay €15 a month for it.

Which is rather pointless as you can get a multiroom sub for the same price and have the Sky Player thrown in.

Can you watch Sky player out side your jurisdiction i.e. On holiday?

Every time you log in to sky player it makes sure there is a licence to play the programme in the area you're in so i doubt you could take it abroad with you.

As for my experience with it, you need seriously fast broadband to watch programmes seamlessly

Thanks for that. Thought it was unlikely. Yeah I've noticed that it buffers a lot!!!!

Apparently even on fast broadband connection buffering is an issue. If you change the quality setting from high to low it gets rid of buffering and doesn't make a whole pile of difference to the pic quality. At the end of the day computer quality picture won't be as good as your main telly.

That's true. But they actually promote connecting to a TV to view, which is a bit of a joke.

Yeah but you are not committed to pay €15 for 12 months with the player, and the €15 includes Sky Movies screen 1 and 2 (and maybe Sky sports) which is a good deal if you aren't subscribed to them.

Well perhaps if its connected to a TV the picture would be better?!?!

The Sky Player looks nice on a laptop size screen but it wouldn't on a TV. It would be just about watchable at best I'd imagine, bu then again I have not tried it.

The sky player is available to all for free if you have a sky sub already. I have sports but do not have multiroom and watched the Utd game on high quality on 15" laptop screen at the weekend. Perfect quality. Buffering only at the beginning. I have a 3Mb eircom connection and was using it wirelessly without a single stutter in the frame. Handy when the kids were glued to Dora ! Could'nt convince them to watch Dora on laptop so I lost that battle.

    ORLY?

EDIT: Nice one. The picture quality is really good.

ORLY? How does it know if you have Sky Sports or not?

You have to register with your sky account no.

I think we all got mixed up with the Sky Player and the Live TV.

90% of Sky Player content is free is you have a Sky Sub (for the likes of House, you have to pay to watch the episodes regardless if you have Sky or not).

Live TV through your computer costs €15 or free for multiroom subscribers.

I cannot see the page fully as I am using IE7 to view T&C. Can someone stick them up here please. I had a look at my account profile and it says I have 4 packs and a premium pack, plus sky+. No mention of any other charge for viewing online. Sky player is listed as a service along with remote record but no sign of live TV player anywhere. Damn if I just added 15 to my bill.

Just got to view them. Allowed all active X controls on the site. You can view this for free until 31st August for Sky sports if you have a sports sub. Not sure how that works if you browse movies but do not watch them fully as a test (like I did). Email to Sky I think.

Cannot see how to imbed picture instead of attachment. Attached anyway blah from site.
