is very low when ringing. It's set to the highest but I still find it too low compared to my old phone which would wake the dead! Speaker volume is fine for everything else. Is there an app that would help with this?

Is the ringtone volume slidebar set to highest within the Settings; Sounds section too?

Unfortunately as it's only new it's not jailbroken. Don't want to void the warranty!

Sounds like you need a custom ringtone then! Something loud AND distinctive.

There's a couple of threads about how to do it here somewhere.

BTW - jailbreaking won't void the warranty as you can just restore to factory settings.

    That volume boost hack doesn't work, I don't notice a difference anyway.

Post your ringtone here and I'll increase its db for you.

As its new, have you tried a soft restore? Hold down the on/off button and home button at same time until screen goes blank and release once the Apple Logo appears again... this is effectiovely rebooting your iPhone...

    on a slightly related note-
I have my volume set to X (say loud), but if I'm playing a game etc I decrease it (to say quiet). After I'm done I have to change the volume again.

is there any way to have 1 setting for ringing volume and a seperate default volume for other audio/games etc.?

    cheers,
    pa.

this wouldn't have anything to do with that ****ty EU law imposed by the french to cap the output volume of electronic devices?

i know all iPod's sold in the EU have a volume cap, would the iPhone fall into this as well?

I don't know about that, each phone has varying volumes depending on the speaker.

What I do is increase the db of my ringtones and sms tones and they are nice and loud. :D
