First goalscorer betting.

A few years ago (quite a few !), I remember blindly every Sat morning going into the bookies and betting Larson 1st scorer whoever Celtic were playing, then dropping back at 5 to collect enough for a Sat night out (or so it seemed) - didn't keep a log, but was sure I was up for the season thanks to Henrik. Going to do it again this year with Torres, he's 9/2 vs. Spurs to begin. Also going to do a Lucky 15 (one winner treble the odds most bookies), but can't decide who to include. First week doing Torres (9/2), Anelka (10/3), McDonald (9/2) and Doyle (13/2) - anyone more insight into 1st goal consistency so I can make it fixed rather than change every week ? Maybe Beckford off Leeds ? Would like to have 4 that I do each Saturday regardless...... €20 Torres and €1 Lucky Fifteen will be my punt. Enjoy the football season !

Doyle is injured for the first few games. Ebanks-blake may be the better bet... a regular 25 goals a season forward in championship...going to be a cert for 10+ this season easy.

Carlton Cole would be my bet. West Hams only real striker, was injured half of last season and still managed to be their top goal scorere. As seen in preseason and the England game hes on great form, and with jiminez and nolble now supporting him could have alot of opportunities.

    Drogba or Anelka!
Chelsea first 5 games are Hull, Sunderland, Fulham, Burnley and Stoke.
I'd expect them to start the season strong!

Sure Doyle played the other night did he pick up a knock yeah? Its hard enough generally picking one 1st goalscorer in a match although when it does come in its great! But If I was doing that sorta Lucky 15 it'd be to score anytime in the game not limiting yourself to the 1st goal.

Looks like Doyle will be on the bench, I'll swap him for Ebanks Blake so. Point taken on Cole, maybe he'll be the one when I try settle on 4..:) As for trying for 4 winners, well my main bet will be Torres, the lucky 15 is an interest bet, more fun with the higher odds, if I got three up just once over the whole season it'd be great, anything else a bonus. The other option I was thinking of was to do Torres and then the 4 TV games, but that would mean changing it each week.

Scott McDonald is a donkey, he will be short every week because they play pub teams, just for fun back Lescott, Vidic, Shawcross and Cuellar at big prices, got lots of touches off them before, though all of Cuellars were with Rangers 4 times at least all 33/1. For attacking players maybe Lampard Gerrard Arshavin and Stephen Ireland. Good luck anyway

You'd be very lucky to get treble the odds for one winner with any bookmaker on a football bet. Most bookies have this offer for horse and dog bets only.

If you can find a bookie who does this offer, let us know where you got it.

I usually try no goalscorer lucky 15s,average price about 8/1.
last season got 3 up, payed E1066. Was covered for 70 weeks but if you get 1up in our local bookies, they will pay treble the odds.

Was that an independant bookies? I don't think any of the online firms do this special?

Edit: Just realised hacketts have a website. I rang their customer service and they said they don't offer this special online however they do in some of their shops.

Certainly made Irelands back 4 look very ordinary wed night!! And btw slightly off topic but scotty to be top scorer in scotland at 4/1 is a steal ;)

not a bad shout on the Lucky 15's for that market...as the season gets on I think i'll give the lescott, terry, dunne and vidic combination a run. lethal odds i imagiane. Also quite unlikely to hit though

Can I ask also DRAW NO BET basically means a void bet if theres no winner in 90 minutes. Am I right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 691 ✭✭✭ghosttown

You're correct on the draw no bet. Not much luck on the lucky 15 this week, weak is how I would descibe the Pool performance ! Anyway, I got lucky as at 2.50 Sat was in bookies and realised City game was on in pub next door, so had a saver on Adebayor, only had to wait 5 min into the game ! Will stick with the original 4 for a few more weeks and see how it goes.....

i reckon rooney, fabregas, gerrard and Ireland are on form...gerrard is also on the penalties...

    Gerrard was muck on Saturday!
Dont think Ireland will get as many goals this year as he is sitting back a lot more because of all the attacking players city have on the field, only made 1 or 2 bursts forward on Sat!

oh right didnt see pool match only highlights ..what about adjeboyeour who scored for man city will he score more?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 541 ✭✭✭fonda

Might do wolves at home and pompy away next 2 games.
Man city werent that great though 2 nill flattered them Shay Given got man of the match! They looked very good on the counter attack though!

For the midweek bet I've gone McDonald 7/1 vs. Arsenal, Torres 11/4 vs. Stoke, Anelka 5/1 vs. Sunderland, and with both Doyle and Blake missing for Wolves, I've thrown in Keane at 6/1 vs. Hull as surely he has to make up for his misses on Sunday !! €1 Lucky 15 again, with €20 on Torres......

Update - Anelka and McDonald were non-runners, so we're onto a Keane / Torres double and singles.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 233 ✭✭curious guy

is lampard playing well? just interested in the midfielders that take penalties and can score from play as they are high odds..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 691 ✭✭✭ghosttown

Lampard started ok, as you'd expect, scored last night from a peno. I don't have the stats but I'd say he at least covered himself last season if betting anytime scorer...

Goin to do a L15 tonight for the interest, have selected Valencia, Modric, Torres and Fahey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 275 ✭✭fcleere

i think darren bent would be worth a go in a L15, serious man to score goals!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,133 ✭✭✭hawaii501

i think adam johnson of middlesborough should be on it as he has been in good form scoring goals and he takes peno's

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 691 ✭✭✭ghosttown

The larger Torres bet and non-runners has me back at break even now.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,862 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

The new Serb for Wolves Nemad Millijas looks handy he is 20/1 at city on sat, better bet is 7/1 to score anytime.

Going to be a bit more conservative this week........stick with Torres as he has paid so far, 10/3 1st scorer, and then a €2 Lucky 15 on anytime scorers, Lampard 6/4, K. Jones 23/10, Adebayor 11/10 and Kuyt 13/8.....
