Embrocation

    Does anyone use embrocation creams?

Reason that I ask is that I often wear 3/4 length bib shorts while cycling, as I find that I like the extra warmth early in a cycle, but by the time I am warmed up they are too warm to wear, unless it is a cold day.

I am wondering would embrocation be a solution. I also have a sore hip and a dodgy left knee.

Anyway, what creams do people recommend. I have been just using deep heat spray, but long for the old Wintergreen smell.

I believe Raam is a big fan of the old Belgian kneewarmers.

Yes, but what brand in particular, or is there a brand actually called BKW?

Is embrocation substanially different to Wintergreen or Deep Heat that generations of rugby players have used?

BKW is really just a generic term. There are various brands and I believe that some are way above Wintergreen in the hot scale. The blog Belgian Knee Warmers actually reviews various brands from time to time.

Thanks - have read sopme of the reviews. Interesting to hear where they are on the hot scale. Wintergreen is nicely warm, I am not actaually seeking to cook my knees.

you could also get regular shorts and proper knee warmers! ;)

Failing that, I've used both of these

I use Decente knee warmers, they work very well. A lot easier to yank on or off easily too, you don't have to take your shoes off like you might for full length leg warmers.
