What I think is wrong with the new Knightrider

Just watched a few episodes of this hoping to rekindle the old series, and by god is it the Pat Kenny of remakes. The voice of KITT is nothing like the original. In the 80's series, KITT used to panic, or be sarcastic, and he used contractions like 'Won't', this new one has a very calm and non emotional voice, and expands all sentences fully like 'Will not', and 'Should not'.

The shape shifting should never have been conceived - it's a bit much even for sci-fi, especially that KITT can only shape shift into a ford product. Worse again, are the driving sequences. In the 80's, the Hoff would actually be driving the car, the camera would shake with the road, and the Hoff'd shake too. In the new on, it's being filmed against a green screen, with the moving scenery added in later - completely false, and your subconscious spots it straight away.

Lastly, the actor looks like a 12 year old boy. Far too pretty to pull of the hard man role.

    I'm going to give it a 4/10.

I heard somewhere that Will Arnett was down to voice KITT, which would have been hilarious but also very fitting I think. The problem with the show was as you said, too much CGI and that casting was terrible

Arnett couldn't do it as he's the spokesman for a rival car comapny.

    It's a massive disappointment.

Technically (apart from the crap "Transformer" and "Need for Speed" intrusions) it's cool, using SMS, Satellite mapping, wi-fi, Security cameras, nanotechnology, etc - it's class to see what KITT could have been without the Commodore 64 graphics.

But the casting and storylines are crap, as are the attempts at soft-porn & Baywatch-style crap........talk about pandering to the hormone-filled teenager, and occasionally overdoing it slightly!

Apart from the above saving graces, the only reason to watch it is because there's feck-all else on and the fact that Deanna Russo is worth seeing anytime! :)

Well actually, in one of the first few episodes (I could only stomach four), there's a huge screw up where you clearly see the green screen reflected in KITT's windshield - it made the US broadcast at least, though they might have fixed it for subsequent airings...

Isnt Val Kilmer the voice of KITT?

Yes i agree the casting is terrible

The lead actor was a soap opera actor in US previously needs to go back there and learn to act not pose for camera all the time maybe he was model also he is very hot

They also used a car that's about as technology advanced as the original car it's based on.

It couldn't even outrun a SUV in the fantasy land that was designed to make the car look good.

A Knightrider based in Europe that could take advantage of all the European cars like BMW and Mercedes, really modern and advanced cars there's no reason why there can't be multiple kits. It's been 20 years surely they can make more than one kit?
