Richard Hammond crashed his morgan just last week...

    Thought it might interest you!

Morgans are just incredible. It's hard to believe they use wood in the chassis, but the driving dynamics, and styling are completely timeless. I'd love to own one, even a replica. Just epic - thanks Peasant!

Awful awful cars! If want a classic looking british sportscar I`ll buy a 70`s MG for 3-4k and use it at weekend. Or if you wanted something more modern (albeit less stylish) you could pick up a early 90`s Mx-5.

I cant remember exactly but I remember James may summing them up perfectly on top gear (and not in a nice way).

To sum them up in the immortal words of Podge & Rodge: 'They is for ponces and ladymen.' And how the feck can they give a 'sports car' such a useless output from a 1.6? I know they're light, but 115bhp is extracting the urine.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Kitsch is the word that springs to my mind ;)

The cheapest slowest 1.6l 115BHP one retails at €45k. Silly money when you can buy a brand new Golf V GTI 200BHP for €27k

    ...what's affordable about 45k ?

You could buy a real, and not old, as in a recent, 911, for less.

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

I agree with Peasant, I know you could have a 911, or a Golf, but the world is full of 911's and Golfs. The Morgan is very different motoring, with pedigree, and I think that's the appeal of it.

Agree with that. Unique car, loads of style and history.

Just don't watch War of the Roses :D

I saw a program recently about making these cars. Its a cool process. All the woodwork is completely handmade. No 2 are alike either. Each one is completely bespoke and for that reason, I'd love one.

I'd want a lot more than 115bhp for that sort of money.

    45k !?!?!

2 seater... not very fast... doesn't look THAT great... wow.. (i drive a 2 seater so don't try to spin that back at me!)

I'm amazed anyone would buy one for 15k.

For any supposed 'car fanatic'... there's very little in this car's favour other than nostalgia/brand.

So buying a car for anywhere near 45k for just nostalgia/brand is pretty messed up.

I'm totally with AugustusMaximus here. I'd definitely buy something newer and a LOT quicker for that money if I had 45k to spend.

It may be that I wasn't born in that era, but it really bugs me that people would go out and spend crazy money on a vintage car that has very little going for it, other than the "it was really good for it's time" appeal.

Now, I've never driven a Morgan, but I'd like to believe that 115 bhp @ 800 kg is plenty to provide you with brisk progress.

The other thing is roads and traffic. In any fast, modern sportscar (with exception of the MX5 maybe) you are so far insulated from driving that in order to experience "fun" and "speed" you have to drive far above what traffic conditions or speed limits allow most of the time.

This makes ownership of a sportscar somewhat frustrating.

I would like to think that in a Morgan even 80 km/h down a country road could be exhilarating and fun.

    I could be wrong though.

I'd say it'd be lots of fun in the wet even at 50km/h.;)

I'd go for an Atom over it.

Sure you don't get the brand nostalgia but you get a car thats under 500kg and has 300BHP.

I'd say that could be quite fun too, 0-60 takes 3 seconds.

You'd even get to wear driving goggles, there's some nostalgia for ya!

Don't let anyone else dictate what you like. I think it's a fine car!

I've always wanted to buy one of those AC Cobra kit-cars. Some of them look absolutely stunning. Will have to wait though.
