SIGA Airtightness products

    Hi,

I met a rep recently from an insulation installer/provider and they informally quoted me around €6000 to fully seal the house using SIGA airtight tapes, membranes etc. To me this seems really excessive. I am waiting on their actual quote based on my submitted plans.
Has anyone out there used a contractor to "airtight" their house using SIGA or alternatively, has anyone tried to do it themselves?
If so, how did you get on?
    Thanks

Didn't use membrane so can't comment there but used that co's tape for SIP panel joints and around windows/doors.

Did the taping myself and was praised for the quality..I suspect it's the kind of thing only your own diligence will ensure a satisfactory result unless you get a very well referenced contractor. Having said that, I haven't my final air-tightness test done yet so no quantitative measure as to how well we're sealed as yet.

As I said, not sure as to how the membrane attachment works so can't really comment on the diy-ness of that side.

My windows were Siga taped, very good job, and the tapes are very strong. That part of it is an easy DIY job.
I'd recommend all self builders to tape up all window/ door jambs as they are major areas for air leaks.
However, I think the membrane installation is not a DIY job, especially if your house is not a simple shape.
