    Hey folks.

My laptop gave up the ghost, the CD tray broke off and for some reason it has killed the power. The model is an Acer 5920. Is it possible to retrieve the files from hard drive or transfer the HD into a 5920G model?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers
    G

Yep..exactly as Jimmy says. This hapened to me recently. Laptop wouldnt boot due to HD going faulty. Whipped it out and put in an enclusure I had lying around (loads of them available on ebay). Connected it to another pc...copied off all important files and then repaired it. It ran ok for a little while but packed in again but at least all my info is off it.

Make sure no note there are 2 types of USB caddys. IDE and SATA. Make sure ya order the correct one or both if you are going to explore all those drives.
