Hi, a sports club/ event I'm involved with recently got a cheque from a sponsor. We don't actually have a club bank account since we're a small, enough operation and are really only in operation for one event coming up.

Will we have any problems in lodging cheques like this for funding to our individual accounts or are such cheques impossible to cash since there is no account in that name in which case we should ask for cheques to be made out to one of the members?

    Thanks

Depends on whether its crossed or not. If its crossed it has to be lodged. If its "account payee only" it can only go to account in that name. If its crossed with & Co. you could lodge to a personal account. If you go to branch cheque is drawn on and explain they may cash it for you
