Hi Daragh. I like yourself am a very young Private investor. I have made and lost some money on Irish banks but overall I has made quite a bit as I bought BOI at 0.38p.

At the moment I am staying away from irish bank. The stocks are overvalued and IMO peaked for the time being. I have been stung loosing 6k in Newcourt group so that has been a very valuable lesson for me.

For my very short time in the stoc market I have learned not to go on tips that you may hear in boards, but to invest with your head. Before putting one cent into any company research research and more research.

At the moment I find the iii site an excellent discussion on UK Stocks. www.iii.co.uk

I bought two uk shares Victoria oil and Gas Plc (VOG.L) up 35% from last week and I also bought Gulf keystone petroleum (GKP.L) up over 150%. As always before you buy any stock find out as much as you can. Also don't look back at charts on past performance as companies (like VOG.L) dilute there shareholding by as much as 50%.

Goodluck as a young investor. IMO now is a very exciting time for any young investor to purchase stocks.

That's good advice! Tips on message boards aren't necessarily bad, but you need to do your own research also and not blindly follow them. Best of luck.

Maybe have a look at providence resources. I have invested a little in them and from reading the discussions on iii.co.uk site some of them are very optimistic. Also they are I believe close to drilling an exploratory well off west coast Ireland with Exxon Mobil and if succesful well the shares will rocket imo.

Goodluck do your own research and invest imo in companies that have a good cashflow and are ambitious.
