Do we really need or want this?

We have had a rework of the original series which was brilliantly done so what would be the point be in doing the original again other than jumping on the Hollywood money making bandwagon?

I think it will devalue the whole franchise to be honest.

Too soon. And I'm really not a fan of "Bryan" Singer at any rate.

if Singer's movie can erase teh utter shítness of 60% of season 4 from my memory then i'll welcome it with open arms.

Looks like Universal want another Star Trek so I hope Singer isn't heading into the same fun-for-all-the-family type entertainment that accompanied Superman Returns. I can see a Dirk Benedict/Richard Hatch cameo a hectar away! Although I can't see Singer reverting this to a family matinee type franchise, I don't see another Superman here.

With the RDM galactica held in such high regard with critcs and the lukewarm reception that greeted Superman Returns, Singer will have to thread carefully because critics are going to be very hard on this film. At the same time, I hope people will reserve their judgement. Byran Singer has brought us some great films, if BSG: The Movie has elements of Usual Suspects, X2 and Valkerie, this could be very good. He would be mindful not to alienate the fans of the Ronald D Moore series, if there's even a hint of a slight dig at RDM, the current fanbase will be outraged and this won't help the film's credibility.

The original series has some great aspects not seen in the re-imagined series. A much more malevolent Baltar and an alternative origin/hierarchy for the cylons (reptilians, the imperious leader, lucifer and so on) could serve as a very interesting dark side that this movie will need, presuming thats the route he wants to take it.

BSG deserves a big screen outing and I'm a little excited now (but I think I'm rationalising the inevitable) in seeing who he's going to cast as Adama, Tigh etc. It's just five years too early and I've hardly come down from the series final :(

It would be an odd decision for him to use the same storyline as the original since so many people now prefer the new one over the old. It would have made sense (at least from an economic point of view) if was made before the re-imaging.

Any one want a robe in anticipation of the costumes?

    Utterly pointless.

Interesting link about where Singer could take the francise:

I don't know how accurate the above is though. I havn't seen any of this posted anywhere else. I've seen the cylon concept art before but not the sketches. Not sure if the pilot they refer to is Richard Hatch's "Second Coming" or a mock up for Singer's concept. Who knows, interesting for discussion nonetheless.

Never thought I'd say this but at least there was one good thing about September 11th 2001

Well Im not an expert by any means but I really enjoyed the new series. I thought it was really exciting. However I think if they were going to make a movie they should have done it before the series. But wait! Thats what the Mini Series was for!
    Seriously, leave well enough alone!

    Nope. Not on for it.
Jeasus, will they ever learn to leave things alone.
It was done once as an original novel idea TV series, it was done as a re-imagined and more modern version.

...now they are just trying to flog a dead horse!
And this is without mentioning how confusing it will be for some who will be new to Caprica, the TV series.
Its going to turn into a right mess.

    Enough already.

Yep, Hollywood remakes are getting ridiculous - I mean, I don't like it, but I can begrudgingly accept the constant remakes of 70s/80s TV shows and movies, but to be remaking something that was (very successfully) remade and airing new material up to this year is beyond stupid...
