a while back, i was downloading a zip file. i happened to open it from the current location that time but also happened to click on "Always do this action". now everytime i want to download a zip, it opens instead. is there any way i can change it back to the way it used to be (eg when i click on a zip, a box comes up asking do i want to "open", "save" or "cancel")? thanks.

Well when you select 'open from current location' it still downloads onto your computer, it'll be in your temporary internet files folder in your documents and settings folder on the hdd.

It actually downloads to "C:\Downloads" for some reason!
PS im runnin Win98 so no "Documents and Settings" folder.

Yes there is, check C:\Windows ;-)

That's totally unrelated but there is a documents and settings folder in Win98, just doesn't contain the same things as 2k or XP. Anyways erm... do you not get the option to 'open from current location' or 'save to disk' ???

Ok right, you're not talking about the 'close this dialogue box when download is complete' are you? Also what version of IE are you using? By the way, i know you've probably heard this before but i'd sugest using a REAL internet browser (one that a hell of alot more secure anyways) and that has better features. Why not check out Mozilla Firefox:

ye that was my first thought aswell but ive tried it 3 times now and it doesnt work. it only resets your home page and a few other little things.

ps im using IE 6 on win98.
