Fires on the beach?

Hey guys, no idea if this is the best place for this, so mods, feel free to move!

I was just wondering, and have googled but to no avail, if it's legal to light a small bonfire on a beach in Ireland? Am heading to Wexford for a night, and was curious if it was ok to have a little lire just for tasting marshmallows and all that on the beach in the evening.

    Anyone know?

    Thanks,

    Zoe.

Usually there are beach bye laws in effect and most likely beach fires are not permitted. Big sign up usually at the enterance to the beach. None allowed down here anyway, even in the smaller beaches!

Yeah, cause you might set fire to the sand:rolleyes:

Yeah, cause you might set fire to the sand:rolleyes:

Not sure what the reason is, it could be due to the grass areas and other protected sections. I recall the fire service going down frequently putting out fires lit by fishermen.

Because people never clean up the ashes after themselves & it's left to the local authority to do it.

That's cool, I just kinda wanted to check. I assume a contained bbq would be ok though?

Probably as long as you take your rubbish with you. Check the sign at the enterance for beach bye-laws.
