as usual, the .ie site hasn't been updated with the new lower price (they usually adjust it if you email them) but it's the cheapest one i've seen if you buy it off the UK site.

    http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=172557
    Special Summer 2009 Deal
The Siraya Bluetooth GPS Receiver would normally cost £19.99 - but during August 2009 while stocks last, it is available for only £7.99, saving you £12!

Other eXpansys special offers like vouchers cannot be used with this offer. Available while stocks last.

Compact lightweight Bluetooth GPS receiver, perfect for turning your smart phone into a fully functioning satellite navigation system.

The Siraya Bluetooth GPS Receiver connects wirelessly to your Bluetooth enabled smart phone and works in conjunction with popular satellite navigation software to provide instant navigation. The low power chip set allows the Siraya Bluetooth GPS receiver to continuous operation for up to 10 hours. 12 channel satellite tracking lets you acquire acquire a satellite lock rapidly with extended accuracy.

The include car charger lets you keep your Siraya Bluetooth GPS Receiver charged in the car. An MMCX adapter allows connection to external antennas.

justhad a quick google and amazon have it at the same price, so i guess it's not that special, but at the end of the day, it's a bluetooth GPS module for £7.99 so it's got to be a bargain either way imho. :)

there's one review on expansys for it and it looks positive, so it might be worth a gamble if you're looking for a cheap gps unit for your phone.

Remove the referral link and receive thy thanks.

Oh, and amazon are just linking to expansys so it is a pretty good deal.

Would this work for an iPhone 3G running the navigon software? I know TomTom are bringing out their own software with GPS enhancing cradle. Does this do the same job?

btw I've a jailbroken iphone so can connect via bluetooth to devices other than just bluetooth headsets!

This is for adding GPS capabilities to phones without GPS.

It says €29.99 on their Irish site. Do they ship to Ireland from their UK site?

    what referral link?

go to the main expansys page and search for "BTH-10H" (it's model number) and the URL it takes you to is exactly the same as the one in my post.

isn't there a rule about paying money to people you've incorrectly accused of posting referral links? ;)

EDIT: I take it back, looks like there was one in there and it was removed: Last edited by basquille; Yesterday at 14:40. Reason: Removed affiliate link

i think what happened there was that I got an email from expansys and clicky linky'd it and just copy/pasted the URL from my browser.

does that mean expansys would have paid me if people had used that link?

now i just have to figure out what I owe Onikage for incorrectly accusing him of incorrectly accusing me of using an affiliate link. :)

EDIT2: just checked my expansys 'special offer' mail again. did the previous link have http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=172557 then "&partner=uknews" (sans quotes)on the end? if it did, then that was just from the special offer mail direct from expansys, don't think anyone would have got paid for that.

Nope, it was a generic enough looking affiliate code.

I'd say was simply used to gauge how much interest / purchases were generated from that e-mail.

No, the iPhone doesn't support the serial port protocol that I believe is required for the GPS unit.

I am not aware of any software that does enable the serial port protocol. If you have found such software, I could think of a few people that would be very interested.

Does anyone know if this unit will work with Windows mobile 6 on HTC PDA?

Or is there as good value alternative available anywhere?

So how did this work out - I just went to order one but the price is gone back up as promotion was only end of August. Seemed like good value although the lack of a mains charger plus having ot get some software might take the shine off it.
