    Hey,
Have the 3gs about a month now. It is jailbroken and unlocked to all networks. No problems at all with the phone until yesterday. During a phone call the line went dead and i tried to press end call, but nothing happened. The phone froze on me and stayed like that for roughly an hour before starting to function again really slow. I turned it off for about 20 mins and when i turned it back on it was fine.

    anyone know why this happened??
    Did anyone else experience this??
Any advice so that it wont happen again??

Given the fact that it is essentially a computer, it would be prone to the occasional crash.

Especially after Jailbreaking/unlocking it. Plus, add in any non-App Store apps, and it becomes all the more likely, I'm afraid.

While I don't have a 3Gs (yet), I did notice the same thing when I had loads of apps on my 2G iPhone. Now that I have upgraded to 3.0 and have a lot less apps, I don't experience crashes much any more.

It depends on the apps and what they do.

For example, I used Backgrounder (to send applications into the background), it seemed to coincide with more iPhone crashes. Got rid of it, and things have stabilised somewhat.

One thing you could do is power off the iPhone every day or so, to clear any memory leaks that might be happening.

Does just jailbreaking the phone cause it to run any slower? My 3GS is jailbroken with a handful of apps such as mxTube, Scrobbl and flash light. It's two weeks old and has felt a little sluggish the last few days.

Its bound to as it doesnt use the Official Apple SDK usually. It uses resources currently locked for official use, and that may conflict with your other programs..

I wouldnt unlock my iPhone unless I seriously had to ..

mxTube runs a daemon so it is on all the time using memory and the processor even if it is not being used.

I would suggest that you delete it and install yourtube instead.

YourTube integrates in with the YouTube app and lets you download videos.
It only costs $2 and is well worth it.

As regards to freezing, that has happened to me a few times. Probably more than it would if it was jailbroken but not so much I would be worried about it.

When this happens I just press and hold the home and lock button a few seconds and the phone reboots.
