Maybe of help.. Are you getting distortation of channels or "bad or no signal"?

    Also might look at http://freesatsupport.co.uk/signalproblems

    Missing channels

I.Check the signal strength on the receivers OSG (If poor – continue)
II.Check the receiver is properly connected to the satellite dish (Downlead)
(Turn the receiver power OFF before checking the Downlead connections)

III.Check the satellite dish is not being obstructed (trees, scaffolding etc)
IV.Check the following satellite channels as this checks the function of the dish LNB: I.Channel 4 (Low Band - Horizontal)
    II.ITV 2 (Low Band - Vertical)
III.BBC News (High Band - Horizontal)
IV.CNN International (High Band - Vertical)
V.If some of these channels are missing the satellite dish maybe faulty or require realignment (Engineer visit recommended)

So looks like your High Band channels are out out sorts, prob need to re-align your dish...

Are the channels missing from the EPG - or just blank when the EPG says CH NNN?

I'd try a full rescan 1st - in either freesat or non freesat mode to see if the missing channels can be got back.

Other options might be a 'reset to factory defaults' - followed by a rescan.

A mains power down is also worth a try.

It could be the dish alignment but loss of distinct groups of channels (high/low band h/v etc) could also be caused by a receiver or LNB fault.

If the box is a PVR - you might be able to compare reception on each input - i.e. if you record a channel you can see - can you then see a missing channel on the other input?

I presume you're talking about firmware updates... I'm not totally sure. I'd be surprised if a factory default reset would affect the current firmware - but I don't know.

Is it a dual or quad LNB ? Do you have any other sat receivers? You could try another LNB output and or sat receiver to verify dish alignment/function.

    Help :pac:

Just attempted to switch over to Freesat but Humax box complains about no new sofware being found, then asking me what my postal code is!?

    Any suggestions?

If you bought the box new just now - it should already have the latest software. It will want a post code to set your UK region. You can put in any post code you like - just google for some places in NI or Britain. A London postcode is good if you want BBC / ITV London as default - an NI one if you want BBC NI / UTV. All the BBC regions can be watched regardless of the postcode you choose - and you can always change it later (although I think you have to do a full rescan)

    Is that a valid postcode?

I'm starting to feel that its complaint about the software is a red herring.

    Works a treat, thanks!

Now all I have to work out is how to put it onto the television [Sharp] from the Humax box... just for the sake of practicality...

Also must get rabbit ears for RTE
