Do I need a new modem - and which one?

I connect to the internet (UTV) via a Voyager 2091 wireless modem, which I purchased myself a few years ago to replace the non-wireless one provided by UTV. For the last few days, it keeps dropping the connection, but is ok (for a while) after I switch it off and on.
I don't think this is a connection problem with UTV (but I could be wrong) as when I run 'diagnose and repair' it says there's no response from the router and I don't get the usual 'Local access only' on the icon in the tray.
I was thinking about purchasing a new modem anyway and have been looking at 2 available in Argos - a Linksys Wireless G and a Belkin 54G. Of these 2, which would be the better option? I've noticed (I'm not very techy) that there's 'wireless n' as opposed to g and that these options are more expensive - are they worth the extra money? My line only supports up to 2mb, if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance for any help.
