Can anyone reccomend an affordable foundation for the Debs?

I was looking for something either liquid or minerals that will last the night and that won't look 'shiny' in photos..

    Thanks in advance..:)

No doubt you'll get a few Double Wear comments but I think it's dreadful.

When is your Debs? Test a few of the long lasting make ups first, the 16 hour ones. Everyone is raving about the new Rimmell 16 hour foundation, it's only around €7 so wouldn't break the bank if you want to try it out first.

i got Elizabeth Arden sponge on make up for my mates wedding; it's thick enough that you won't look shiny in pics and it'll stay in place, but cheap enough (think it's like 25 quid) failing that, the rimmel 16hr one is amazing,im wearing it right this minute!

estee lauder have a double wear foundation that is worth the money. I think its about €35 but I've had mine for over a year. I wear it everyday but for day time I only need a little bit cos it goes on so well. At nite I have a darker version and obviously I use a good bit more but it lasts all nite. I never have to worry about touching up. Get a foundation brush, it'll help put on the foundation without looking like you've caked it on.

If you go into Brown Thomas and try it there first you can see what u think before u buy it.

    Really recommend it :p

I would highly recommend the L'Oreal liquid mineral one, it's fantastic! Can't understand why more people don't wear it! Costs about €10 and last for ages, won't make you shiny just gives a nice glow!:D

Get something that says it's matte and that feels light on your skin, you don't wanna end up looking over made up/cakey in photos. If you have oily skin then you should try something that says it's longlasting. After that it just depends on how much you want to spend. I've used Rimmel foundations in the past and found them good, so maybe try the 16 hour one people are recommending. I've also heard great things about Revlon Colourstay foundation, very longlasting, and should give a matte finish which you seem to be looking for(as opposed to something dewy which may look 'shiney'). I'm planning on getting some of it in the States next month as they don't carry the lightest shade of it here in Ireland for some reason that's beyond me!

every foundation is different on peoples skin?you need to try a few diff kinds but to stop shine you need a powder??whatever make up i use i alwasy get a shiny effect after a couple of hours on the nose especially!
the rimmelones are very good though and they have nice colours!just be careful that ur make up will match your tan on the day thats the biggest thing for photos

I have just recently bought and tried that Rimmel 16 hour foundation, it is liquid but has minerals. Would recommend it 100%, I used it twice this week when I had very early start for work (5am), and it was still looking good at 10pm that night. I normally use the Prescriptives Custom blend which I have also found very good, but at 70eur a bottle when compared with the Rimmel for 6.99 I know what I'll be going for in the future!
Got it in Boots but you may have to look around for it as apparently goes out of stock pretty quickly

I don't know whether you're looking for high street sort of foundations or more pricey versions. Personally, I used to use Maybelline mousse (years ago) but then I started paying a bit more for foundations and I've never looked back.

What I find is key to getting a foundation to stay in place is good prep. I don't know what skin type you are so it might be different for you - try to experiment to see what works. Personally, I have dry patches around my t-zone. I usually use a gentle exfoliater in the shower then tone and moisturise. Leave for about 10-15minutes and moisturise again. I also find that a good primer is paramount. I use Estée Lauder's Face Primer Plus Illuminating Base. It's pricey enough (around the €30 mark) but you only need about a pea-sized amount so it lasts ages and I only use it when I want my make up to last for a long time.

For foundation, for a quick light coverage I use Lancome's Colour Ideal, but despite what a previous poster said, I do like Estee Lauder's Double Wear and I use it when I want a full, long-lasting coverage. They're both liquid and around the €25-30 mark. Can't remember exactly.

A good brush is also really helpful, I find. I have MAC's airbrush one and it's a dream, but it is expensive at €40 or so (I was lucky: I was given a BT gift card as a present!) - I'm sure there are similar brushes available at cheaper prices.

This is just what works for me.

It might be worth your while to consider getting your make-up done at a beauty counter if you're near a BT store? I don't know if you are? Prices might have changed since I last got mine done (someone might be able to help with this!) but if you buy a product of €25, the makeover is free? These people are pretty good and anytime I've had mine done it's always lasted (I've gotten it done for debs and countless college balls and formal dos). They'd know what would work on your skin as well so that always helps, plus you can buy the foundation they've used as well.

Good luck anyway and have a great night! :)

Illamasqua is the bomb, I think.
You get it in BT2 onGrafton Street, don't know about anywhere else.
I got it done for a college ball and I thought, like always it would be orange and caked on, they've a huge variety of colours and the liquid foundation covers EVERYTHING!
I mean, I have freckles, not with this stuff though.
The foundation is 24yoyo's and you can get a primer that gives you a matte finish [: It's totally worth it, I've had that foundation since May and I use it everyday, there's still lots left in the tube! [:

Also, If you go into the store, they will do your make up for you and all you need to do is buy a product. It's called a Transformation [:
