I had one of these for a while.

Sold it on though. It was fun to ride but generally impractical and I'd favour a good road or touring bike over one any day.

Back in the dot.com boom, when my colleagues were buying fancy cars, I was vaguely planning, if the boom continued, to buy a windcheetah, which is a recumbent trike.

But I never did. The boom didn't continue. Even had the boom continued, I would have had nowhere to put it. I imagine it would get vandalised quite a bit if you left it in the street too. Seemed a little impractial, as Morgan said.

I still quite like the idea of getting a Moulton (not a recumbent, I know) and putting a fairing on it, to see whether journey times improve. But the IT boom, strangely, hasn't come back.

There is a guy who commutes on one and is usually on the Nangor Road between 5 and 6 pm. You could sit and wait for him.

    Morgan:
Never tried a 2 wheeled recumbent.
Imagine they might be a bit impractical, but much easier to pedal into wind.
And we get a lot of those down here.

    Ah Ha.
I guess that makes it a quad really, even without the pirates:D

    I've got one of these:

No problem with vandalism down here in West Cork.
But I can see it might be a bit impractical in the Dublin area.

    As an aside, sort of.....

The world speed record for human powered vehicles was set by Sam Whittingham on a fully-faired recumbent bicycle on September 18, 2008 with a speed of 132.5 km/h (82.33 mph)

Why would a 2 wheeled recumbent be impractical? Takes up less space than a trike.

Finally, a bicycle (of sorts) on which it is possible to have sex without falling off.

Sorry DFD, didn't look at the site properly and assumed it was a trailer.:o

That must be very useful, for the shopping, and the pirates:)

It sounds like you've been waiting a long time for that?

Probably not, only the kids up front. Second parent rides their own bike.

Will have to start cruising Ranelagh, looking for this other bike.
