Kysrium Hubs starting to feel a little dry and rough. Are they serviceable?

While we're on this I wonder if anyone would have any advice on my front wheel. Aer Lingus gave it a bashing a and it is now a little buckled. The reason seems to be a small dent. Pictures below to explain, the dent is on the silver part just below the word michelin.

The LBS is reluctant to repair it and said not to use it in the meantime as the braking won't be up to scratch. Just wondering if anyone thinks I have a chance of getting it repaired or is it time to start saving for new hoops?

    All advice much appreciated :)

I would do what the LBS is saying and avoid riding it, could be dangerous

... or maybe bring it to a more adventurous shop ...?

A decent bike shop or Mechanic, would be able to straighten out the dent and file the top part of the rim, to make it smooth again, might not be perfect again, but definately rideable ....the damage does not look too bad from here ....

thanks biker joe! so there's still some hope, that's good news.

you'll also be happy to hear that i've been practising my puncture-changing and am almost proficient :D

yeah biker joe is right any decent mechanic should be able to repair the rim to a reasonable rideable standard and if not capable of filing the top of the rim you could have the whole rim machined by a fitter to take a couple of mm off the entire wheel. Would be a shame to replace it.

Actually anyone know of any decent shops in Ireland that can service mavic wheels. I'd like to get my Cosmic Carbones and Kysrium ES's retensioned and the bearings serviced. They are fine as is, but a bit of preventative maintenance every now and then will help keep them that way I reckon. I wonder can you get Mavic themselves to do it...

I know Humphries in Finglas can do most Mavic repairs .... and wheel rebuilds ... I had a freehub replaced there on an older set of cosmic elites ... but that
might not be an option for ya Quigs ? too far ?? but certainly give them a call and ask ...

    Cycleogical? (please no pump jokes)

I read a recommendation for Tony O'Mahony (O'Mahony Cycles) in Dungarvan, wheelbuilding not Mavic specifically.
