Hi,

my friend has a problem with Skoda Fabia steering. It is really heavy and the dealer has informed that following parts needs to changed:

steering rack
power steering pump + control unit

This will cost around 1600e, so not an option.

I assume that there is a leak in the steering rack and therefore the power steering does not work, but what options there would be to fix the issue?

It is pointless to spend 1600e for 2500e car.

The car is Skoda Fabia, year 2000, engine is 1.4l petrol,
