Anyone used any of the iPhone GPS apps??
I am most likely going to pick up a phone in the next few weeks. The iphone is a strong contender. If these GPS apps are any good it will push it over the edge.
I mean a GPS unit will cost €300+, these apps are in the 20/30 range.

Is the GPS accurate enough in the iphone? Is it any less accurate than a normal GPS unit?

That's a pity, thought someone would have tried one of these.... even the scorecard versions.
Well, I'll let you know what I think whenever I do manage to try one out.

Not entirely relevant but i have used GPS on courses before, Dubai has them installed on the Buggy that they force you to rent. I actually found it made me extremly lazy and after 6 holes of using it i couldnt judge distance anymore without it. Basically if my partner were on the other side of the fairway i would have to wait for him to bring the car back before selecting a club. Theres an element of satisfaction involved in selecting the right club based on your read of the lenght............or maybe thats just me.

As for scorecard apps, I had used wireless18 on my blackberry for the last 4/5 years and loved it. They are currently developing an Iphone version which i will definitly pick up on release.

I used wireless18 in Mahon yesterday, uploaded the course to the website about two hours before tee-time, very easy to use and quite simply the easiest way to keep score.

It acts as a constantly updating leader board and gives info on stableford and other side games too. Once the round is finished just press post card and it's there on the website for you to analyse in greater detail. Acts as a stats/handicap tracker aswell. Best part is the basic app is completely free.. Subscription to the service only costs $9.95 for 12 months.

Was using this app on a Sony Ericsson C905 aswell without any issues. Well worth a go in my opinion.
