    hi all

was going to grab a few nights
in ireland with my wife, 5yr old son and 18mth daughter

    any suggestions?

i dont want to drive too far, so not kerry, cork etc
(my little one would be a nightmare on a 4 hour drive)

    wexford would be good,

i read on another thread that a lot
of the hotels sites etc, do not have the really good deals?

is there any good sites or is the paper the best option?

    suggestions welcome

    rgds

I stayed here last week with our 3 year old and 1 year old.

    http://www.maldronhotels.com/hotel-wexford/

you can check out the latest specials here -> http://www.avvio.com/hotels/Maldron_Hotel_Wexford/bookings/client.php?formname=searchspecials

They are right off the N11 from Dublin and 15 mins drive from Rosslare Beach.
The hotel is 5 minutes drive from Wexford.

Rooms are spacious, a kids club, swimming pool & kids pool and a playground are available on site.

They are also 4 mins drive from the Irish National Heritage park which is interesting if the weather is fine.

We also went to the Secret Valley Adventure Farm one morning which was fun and involved handling rabbits and bottle feeding kid goats. http://www.mykidstime.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1801 If you do happen to go there I would advise going via Enniscorthy as the journey from the Wexford side was a bit longer than via Enniscorthy which reduces the amount of back roads required.

The restaurant is very child friendly with high chairs. It's open for breakfast and dinner (does an early bird special for 2 adults & 2 kids for 2 courses for €49) - we had breakfast buffet on site but dinner out in the evenings. It's cheaper to book for the breakfast in advance, we were there for 4 nights and by day 3 we couldn't face the fry up again :D

Lunch is served in the split level bar and lounge, and was fine. We only ate in once apart from breakfasts.

Room service is quite pricey - the food is reasonably priced (same as the bar prices) but a tray charge of €5 could add up.

What we did in the evening was one of us stayed with the kids and the other went and ordered drinks or dessert and if we mentioned they were for taking upstairs they provided a tray.

Are we to assume you are in Dublin?

There is not much point in posting suggestions until we know.

or was it only the early slot

did you get a balcony room?

As you are then considering Wexford I suggest(as always) the Ferrycarrig.

They are on the lough so very peaceful especially since it is a bird sanctuary. They also have a kids club in high season. They have bar food and a restaurant.

Each time I stay there in the summer its like one big creche so probably the suitable place to bring the kids.

They also have a gym, spa and pool for the adults to relax in whilst the kids are away in the club.

I presume you can bring kids in for the main dinner, maybe ring them to check - as I said I didn't eat in the restaurant any evening.

We didn't get a balcony room, I've a son with special needs and a special talent from climbing so the last thing I would need to have a restful holiday would be that addition

    Hi
Would recommend the Mountwolseley hotel outside carlow. We stayed there a couple of months ago and found it lovely (had my 1 yr old with us). Pool area is great c/w kids pool. The spa is fantastic.. They also have a lovely golf club if you fancy a round and also the bar food is good value too..
