Hi, I've appllied for the JSA. The interview I had in the office went perfectly and I was awaiting my first payment. But this morning I received a letter from them stating that someone from the office was coming to interview me in my home and I was to have available details of any financial accounts, money earned in the last 12 months and proof of residence. I have already provided all this.

I cannot tell you the shock I was in when I read they were coming to my home. I see it as a huge personal invasion. I was never told it could happen. Is this a normal step for the Inspectors to take?

    Thanks.

Don't worry about it, they just arrive to see if you actually live at your address and ask little questions about whats in your bank. Only took me about 3 minutes.

Count yourself lucky, he just arrived at my door step with informing me. hehe

    Nice man though.

This is normal OP as part of your application the inspector comes to the house to check that you do actually live there.

An invasion of your privacy? They wont be noseying around your house...

is it compulsory to receive a visit from dole inspector or is it just random?

It is random - not everyone is visited at the moment due to the huge workloads and the vast number of people they would have to visit. If an inspector is in your area to see someone else they may pop in to ensure you live where and with whom you state. Its a fraud control and they are well in their rights to do so.

    V. slightly off topic- but can you remember just when they made the decision to start calling people out to office, rather than visit them at home? Is that a central decision, or just something that certain offices do off their own bat?
