Honeymoon Dilemma

    Hi All,

It's not a major dilemma or anything but we're still trying to decide where to go for our honeymoon. We were planning on heading to las vegas san fran and hawaii. However a lot of people seem to be negative about vegas for some reason.

So now it's got me thinking, what are the cayman island like? Has anyone ever been there on honeymoon? Was thinking of maybe going there and then to a couple of different cities maybe.

    All opinion are welcome!!!!!

Have a look at www.tripadvisor.com for people's comments about various cities, resorts and hotels.

I would personally have thought the cayman islands would be very business-oriented, but i may be wrong.

I'm not sure what negative comments you might get about Vegas - we're going there for 4 (or 5) nights, most of what we heard revolves around not going there to relax or staying too long. Otherwise the reports have been great in a, "You have to see the place at least once in your life" kind of way.

One thing to note about Hawaii is that it's expensive. Everything about it is expensive. We priced it up and the cost of flights from the US to Hawaii are roughly twice the cost of the flights from Ireland to the US. Hotels over there are very expensive, and people who've been there have told us that "all-inclusive" doesn't actually mean "all-inclusive" in Hawaii and you'll still end up paying stupid amounts of money for food & drink.

That said, it is a tropical paradise, and no-one ever told us that they had a horrible time. It's just very expensive.

youngfella, have you not read any comments I have made about Vegas?! IT'S THE BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D

Seriously ... go there. It's amazing!!!! Don't mind those people who said it wasn't good, they don't know any better :) It's brilliant!! And the shops!! Oh the shops, it's actually the best place ever for shopping as everything is just there all close together. Oh and stay in the Bellagio - rooms are amazing, location is amazing, and the breakfast buffet ... oh good grief. The best breakfast EVER.

my friend went to new york and vegas for their honeymoon and they both loved vegas, the pics and stories are amazing from it! I have been to san francisco and it is gorgeous. Very calm compared to new york but so picturesque which i found romantic, and loads to do. so why not vegas and san fran?

OP - San Fran is really nice. A good starting point as well if you want to travel around. Perhaps a road trip down the coast.

What time of year are you going away? That will obviously be a factor.

Here's a trip report I wrote up on our trip to San Fran (and a drive across to Vegas).

Now now - just because people don't like it doesn't mean they don't know better. Maybe it means they have been to places they preferred.

I am going on honeymoon in October (Vegas, LA and New York) and can't wait to get to Vegas now after reading all your positive comments. Staying in the Bellagio too so really excited! Definitely going to try out the breakfast buffet!

in the booking stages ourselves for Jan. Was going to do something similar, cruise, vegas, san fran but got fed up looking at flights ect and then the thoughts of doing a lot of travelling while over there put us off. So booked 6 nights in Cancun(yet to book hotel), over to Miami, then a week on a cruise and a few spare days in miami before coming home. Flights weren`t too bad, just a tad over 600 each.

    Hi,

We did the San Fran, Hawaii and Vegas honeymoon, it was fantastic. It is a lot of travelling but it is worth it. I would recommend going to Vegas last, you will be wrecked when you arrive at your first destination, you will just sleep, also, any money you have left you can just bet in Vegas :) In regards to peoples opinions on Vegas, each to their own, some of the best shows/restaurants/hotels in the world are in Vegas, yes it is a bit tackey out on the strip, but it is amazing to see.
