    Hi,

I did a course on Saturday mornings in the Hugh Lane gallery on Parnell Square in 2007, it was absolutely brilliant. They run a few courses, the one I did was called Painting from the Collection, not the one I particularly wanted to do at first, but I'm so glad I did.

The teacher was lovely, and the class small. We would go into the gallery, the teacher picked a painting, or scultpure and explained to us about it's colour, composition, style, texture etc and then we would draw/paint/whatever it ourselves. She also taught us about perspective (which I thought I knew all about!, but I was wrong).

It was the first time I had drawn/painted etc in about 5 years, afterwards I left work, enrolled in Ballyfermot college and am starting in NCAD this year! I totally credit that Saturday class in the Hugh Lane with re-igniting my love of art, but also teaching me about the technical side of things (the colour/comp/style etc) in a really interesting way.

They do courses throughout the year - not just september, and not just saturday mornings. They have info on their website i think, or you can ring them or drop in.

p.s. they provide all the materials (!) and it cost me about 100 quid for about 10 weeks. That is really really good value.
