Is there any garages that will provide a personal fuel card. (As in you dont have to be part of a company) I have checked the usual suspects websites and they all seem to be geared towards the corporate sector. I am also aware that AXA do one but I am not an AXA customer.

    Thanks

No bother :) Have one myself and depending where you live and what the local prices are like, it can be very useful :)

I have to say my experience of these cards has been pretty poor. The prices do not tend to be 'discounted' to any great extent and in most cases I was finding a pump price was cheaper.

One important point to note is the conditions on these cards changed some time ago - in the past you either paid the pump price or the card price, whichever was cheaper so you didnt really lose out (except for the fact you had to go to Topaz). However the new conditions mean that you always pay the card price so even if the pump price is cheaper you will pay the higher price so be careful and know the weekly price and at least you can choose to pay by cash/credit card etc.

My advice you be to check the weekly price now and then have a look at your local garages, I guess it depends where you live but in my case (Cork) there were always cheaper options so I stopped using the card.

Once upon a time the card price was nearly always cheaper; I've no idea why its ceased to be. Their main advantage is for businesses in reducing expenses overhead and VAT reclaims.

I have an international unlocked Motorcard one for personal use and these days really only use it outside of Ireland - currency rates and fees for using it in the UK are generally cheaper than my credit card/laser card and it reduces the amount of times my 'real' cards could get skimmed on the continent - plus you're paying the pump price over there anyway!

You can also (usually) put car washes and oil on the card too, but you're not getting any discount.
